How To Take Photos Like An Influencer

Let's start with the basics. What is an influencer? In my mind, an influencer is someone who has a following, and, more importantly, a target audience. The people following that influencer are often referred to as their "followers".
With that in mind, here's what you need to know about taking pictures like an influencer.
Pace yourself
Whether you are shooting in portrait or landscape, if you aren't shooting long enough, you're not going to get any good pictures. It is important that you take your time while photographing.
This is one thing that even amateur photographers often fail to do. It isn't that they aren't capable, but they simply don't know how to take good pictures.
This means that even if you have a limited budget, you can take good pictures with relative ease. Take as much time as you need to get a good shot. This doesn't mean that you have to shoot it from every possible angle.
Take the picture, and then leave.
Take photos of the whole environment
One of the most important things that an influencer does is that they are always observing and taking mental notes. This is particularly important in order to be able to capture the entire scene.
Take the time to observe the environment before you even think about taking a shot. This is particularly important with landscapes and nature photography.
While you might be able to get a good shot in a narrow environment, you will never be able to capture a photo that is that perfect.
Practice
When you first get into photography, it can be difficult. At first, you will find it difficult to capture that perfect shot that you will be happy with.
In order to be able to take photos like an influencer, you will need to practice. The more you practice, the more you will be able to capture good pictures.
This will also help you to improve as a photographer. This means that you will be able to take your shots with relative ease.
This is a key aspect to take into consideration when practicing.
Use backlight
The lighting is a crucial component when it comes to taking pictures. In addition to this, the background needs to be properly lit too.
While it might seem easy to shoot a portrait using backlight, this isn't actually the best technique. Using backlight is great, but only if you aren't shooting a portrait.
Unfortunately, photographers often use this technique, and end up with images that aren't that good. Backlight can work well for taking pictures of people. However, it works really badly for taking pictures of landscapes.
This means that you should avoid using it.
Use auto-focus
One of the biggest mistakes that beginners make is that they tend to forget that they have a DSLR, and not just a smartphone. This means that they tend to use their phone's camera for a lot of the photography.
In order to take photos like an influencer, you need to use auto-focus. This means that you need to make sure that you make the most of your camera's autofocus feature.
Make every picture a headline
Every photo has to have an attention-grabbing headline to keep your audience engaged. Take a look at your captions and photo titles often, and make sure they are both relevant and exciting.
In my Instagram posts, I always include the caption in the photo to make sure people see it – it’s important for readers to be able to scan the captions to get an understanding of the photo and my point of view.
Example: I recently posted this photo:
I felt it was necessary to give a heads up to the viewer. It’s visually different than the rest of my posts.
It’s vibrant and eye-catching, and people can quickly scan it to get a feel for the idea.
Your titles are your direct path to your audience. These are the words that most of your readers will read before they see your photo.
If your caption or photo’s description is boring, they’re not likely to stick around to see the image. The right caption is all about telling people what’s happening in your photo.
You can go into more detail in your caption, but you should give your readers a concise introduction before they dive into the actual content.
Don’t forget your headline – your photo or caption is only half of the story. Your headline should sell the photo, but it should also add to your image.
This is why it’s important to make sure your headline is good – don’t include a headline that is too long, or too short, and no matter how short, you need to add some flavor. Take your photo headline from this description:
I absolutely love this little newborn baby, so I’m taking a photo like this!
Put a twist on it! Take the sentence and make it a little funny, interesting, and entertaining.
You can have a couple of sentences for a headline, and try a sentence with a few words.
Pin it one image at a time
When you are editing photos, the main thing that you should be doing is thinking of how your photos connect together. Using a series of photos is a great way to share your story and tell your audience what’s going on in the photo.
For example, I recently posted this photo:
It was a great day. I got some great shots and got some exercise.
Now let’s get into the description. Here’s how I wrote the caption to tell the story:
It’s a beautiful day in South Central Florida.
If you had looked at that photo without knowing the background, you would have no idea that I had a great workout. Without me telling you anything, you’d think I was just a random guy walking down the sidewalk, taking a photo, and then walking on.
But as soon as I mentioned the bike ride, you were instantly curious. That bike ride felt so much like me – the bike ride really connected my workout to my personality.
That bike ride was one of the highlights of my day, and it happened right in front of me.
Be mindful of the wording of your caption. Some people use creative words like “one”, “scenic”, or “bicycle”. Don’t use things like that unless you want to give the photo a theme and tell a story.
I’ve always used the word “bike” in my captions. And I’m not the only one – most of my friends use the word “bike” too.
Don't stop
Take these pointers into consideration when taking photos. They will go a long way towards helping you to take good photos.
After you've practiced the most important things, you'll be able to take great pictures, regardless of your budget.
